Jon Montgomery, Skeleton Athlete, Releases Farm Training Video

Permalink | Print Article | Back To Top
Posted: October 9, 2012 at 8:00 AM.  Ends: May 5, 2013

WINNIPEG, MB – At the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Whistler, BC, Jon Montgomery won Olympic Gold in Skeleton, inspiring Canadians across the country with his determination and genuine spirit. Now he's training harder than ever to bring home the gold from Sochi, Russia in 2014.

BrettYoung has been a sponsor of Jon’s since 2010. “It has been a terrific relationship with Jon. He personifies BrettYoung; home grown, world class with a little fun mixed in,” says Calvin Sonntag, CEO of BrettYoung. “He has been a great ambassador for BrettYoung and we are proud to continue our support of Jon in his drive to Harvest Gold in 2014.”

BrettYoung and Jon have produced a YouTube video showcasing his training regimen—or a version of it. Entitled "On-the-Farm Training with Jon Montgomery", the video is a ‘tongue-in-cheek’ take on the workouts of this Manitoba-bred athlete.

The purpose of the video is to encourage fellow Canadians to help Jon and Darla(Jon’s wife and fellow skeleton athlete—also featured in the video) Harvest Gold for Canada in 2014. With financial support, they'll be able to develop the world-class equipment needed to compete and give them the best chance for success.

“Farmers across Canada know that proper equipment plays a large part in the success of their operations,” says Sonntag. “It’s no different for Jon and Darla. In a sport where tenths of a second can make the difference between gold and an ‘also-ran’, equipment R&D is extremely important. We hope that farmers and ag-retailers across Canada will enjoy the video and get behind Jon and Darla.”

Says Jon, "BrettYoung has been incredible. It's such a unique opportunity to work with a sponsor in this way. We definitely have an innovative partnership, and this amazing support adds fuel to the fire for Darla and me as we work to reach our goals. The video was a blast to make. You can never take the prairie out of this boy!"

View Jon's video at www.BrettYoung.ca/JoinJonsTeam and reacquaint yourself with this fun loving, hard working, prairie boy who took his country for one heck of a ride in 2010. You can't help but get excited about the possibilities that lie ahead for Jon and Darla in 2014. Learn more and show your support at www.BrettYoung.ca/JoinJonsTeam.

Posted: October 2, 2012  Ends: January 2, 2013

WINNIPEG, MB – Richardson Pioneer, already a retailer of several BrettYoung® branded canola varieties and all other BrettYoung product lines, will offer limited volumes of BrettYoung® branded Genuity® Roundup Ready® canola varieties at selected retail locations in 2013. A limited number of bags of 6060 RR will be made available to Richardson this season. Richardson will also offer BrettYoung value-price varieties, 6130 RR and 997 RR.

The decision by Richardson to add BrettYoung® branded Genuity® Roundup Ready® canola varieties to its offering is based on its evaluation of the BrettYoung portfolio in its canola variety evaluation program over the last three seasons.

"Demand for 6060 RR is expected to be strong in 2013 based on its performance. We have been working with our customers to forecast demand over the last 6 to 12 months to guide our seed production plans, as we do every year and on all of our products. Based on the forecast and our production plan, we are confident that we will be able to meet customer orders for 6060 RR barring any unforeseen seed production outcomes," according to Dan Mulder - VP, Retail Sales for BrettYoung.

BrettYoung remains committed to serving the needs of its customers and is pleased to have a long-standing customer like Richardson International expand its current and long-standing representation of BrettYoung forages, canola and BioBoost® and Elite® soybeans and corn.

Posted: August 13, 2012  Ends: November 13, 2012

The two shareholders of BrettYoung, Tim Dyck and Lloyd Dyck, announce that they have agreed to conclude their long and successful business relationship. As a result of this agreement, Lloyd will purchase all of Tim’s shares in the BrettYoung group of companies and Tim will leave BrettYoung in all capacities, effective August 31, 2012.

Tim has made extremely valuable contributions to BrettYoung over the years, including his tireless efforts to develop production protocols for turf grass production in Manitoba and his development of the Professional Turf & Reclamation (PTR) Business Unit. We are all thankful for Tim’s 32 years of service to BrettYoung and we wish him well.

Notably, the PTR business unit remains as an essential part of the BrettYoung group of companies and a highly valued, invest-to-grow business unit. There are no other changes to BrettYoung as a result of this agreement.

New BrettYoung Website Launched

Permalink | Print Article | Back To Top
Posted: April 26, 2012  Ends: September 1, 2012

You may have noticed that our website was looking a little old and there was not much changing. That was because we were very busy working behind the scenes building a brand new site - a bigger, better and we hope an easier to use site.

Building a website is a lot like building a home – once construction starts you can’t wait to move-in, the finishing touches seem to take forever and some parts are added later. We decided we can’t wait any longer to move in to the new site so we have officially launched the new BrettYoung website on April 20.

We are excited to launch the site, but you will notice some parts are under construction and we will continue to work on some finishing touches.

We are anxious for you to visit our new site and please come back often to see how the site progresses.
