Hay, Specialty and Pasture Mixes

Our Hay & Specialty Mixes line is offered through a customer blending process. BrettYoung takes a great deal of pride in this offering. In addition to the company’s listed hay, specialty and pasture mixes, custom blends can be mixed to meet specifications at no extra costs on orders of 125 kg or more. A minimum order of 25 kg is required for custom blending.

Hay Mixes

#1 Super Hay

Super hay is an excellent 2 cut alfalfa/grass mix. It is a mix of 65% Alfalfa Blend 2220, 25% Fleet Meadow Bromegrass, and 10% Promesse Timothy.

#2 Hybri-Power Blend

90% Hybriforce 400 Ultracoat.

10% Promesse Timothy.

#3 Dryland Hay

Dryland has aggressive growth in dryland regions. It is a combination of 40% Kirk Crested Wheatgrass, 40% Carlton Smooth Bromegrass and 20% Spyder Brand Alfalfa.

#4 Super Haymaker

Super Haymaker is suitable for all of Western Canada. It increases tonnage in a 1 cut hay program. It is a mix of 60% Carlton Smooth Bromegrass and 40% Alfalfa 2220 Blend.

#5 Super Pasture Hay

Super Pasture-Hay offers quick dry down time after swathing. It is 50% Fleet Meadow Bromegrass, 35% Glacier Brand Orchardgrass, 10% Promesse Timothy and 5% Alfalfa 2220 Blend.

Specialty Mixes

#10 Saline

This specialty mix offers quick establishment in saline areas with good longevity and also helps reclaim saline areas over time. Saline is a mix of 10% Alfalfa, 25% Slender Wheatgrass, 25% Riding Brand Tall Fescue, 20% Tall Wheatgrass, 10% Dahurian Wildrye and 10% Yellow Blossom Sweet Clover.

#11 Lowland

It is an excellent blend for reclaiming areas prone to flooding. Its aggressive root systems will help utilize moisture. Lowland is combination of 30% Rival Reed Canary Grass, 20% Riding Brand Tall Fescue, 20% Promesse Timothy, 15% Boreal Creeping Red Fescue and 15% Aurora Alsike Clover.

#12 Horse Pasture

Horse pasture is easy to establish, is a low maintenance blend and is excellent for acreages, farm yards, high traffic areas and horse pastures. It is a mix of 20% Promesse Timothy, 50% Boreal Creeping Red Fescue, 10% Troy Kentucky Bluegrass, 5% White Clover and 15% BrettYoung Aubade Annual Ryegrass.

#13 Forestry

Forestry is easy to establish under a variety of conditions and is excellent for forestry ground cover and erosion control. It is a mix of 40% Boreal Creeping Red Fescue, 20% Promesse Timothy, 20% Parkland/Fairway Crested Wheatgrass and 20% Alsike Clover.

Pasture Mixes

#6 Super Pasture

It is an excellent early spring pasture and produces well under stress. It is 50% Fleet Meadow Bromegrass, 25% Parkland/Fairway Crested Wheatgrass, 15% Tall Fescue and 10% Survivor Alfalfa Ultracoat.

#7 Bloat Safe

Bloat safe has an increased quality with no risk of bloat. It is a mix of 45% Fleet Meadow Bromegrass, 30% AC Oxley Cicer Milkvetch Ultracoat, 20% Kokanee Tall Fescue and 5%Boreal Creeping Red Fescue.

#8 Parkland Pasture

Parkland is a high yielding pasture mix. It works well in high traffic areas and aggressive grazing systems. It is a mix of 50% Fleet Meadow Bromegrass, 25% Glacier Brand Orchardgrass, 10% Survivor Alfalfa Ultracoat, 10% Boreal Creeping Red Fescue and 5% Troy Kentucky Bluegrass.

#9 Dryland Pasture

Just like the title says, Dryland is a long lived productive pasture blend for very dry areas. It is a combination of 50% Parkland/Fairway Crested Wheatgrass, 35% Fleet Meadow Bromegrass, 10% Tom Russian Wild Rye and 5% Spyder Alfalfa.

#14 Cattleman’s Choice

Cattleman’s is a high protein pasture with superb regrowth and quick establishment. It is a mix of 40% Fleet Meadow Bromegrass, 20% Kokanee Tall Fescue, 20% Survivor Alfalfa and 20% Glacier Brand Orchardgrass.

#15 Grassland Blend

Grassland Blend maximizes regrowth and quality with no risk of bloat. It is suitable for variable topography areas. It is a mix of 30% Fleet Meadow Bromegrass, 20% Kokanee Tall Fescue, 20% Boreal Creeping Red Fescue, 20% Glacier Brand Orchardgrass and 10% Promesse Timothy.
