Yield Information
Yield is a key component of performance in canola variety evaluation. The merit of a hybrid or variety as a choice for your farm is based on information from a number of sources and on farm experience with specific products in specific situations.
When a new product is developed the initial selection is done by plant breeders using a multitude of small plot evaluation to identify lines with the most potential. The top candidates are then evaluated in replicated field trials for two years for eligibility for registration. These co-op trials are monitored by the registration committee which determines what is eligible for registration and eventual sale in Canada.
Each year many new products get registered and are potentially commercialized.
To help farmers gain experience with new products companies undertake a number of field scale trials, demos, and evaluation programs. From these initial field experiences we collect feedback from actual growers to help you determine what makes a good choice. We list these as testimonials.
In 2009, BrettYoung has established a number of field scales trials and demos with retailers on a number of new products. Results from these will be added here as they become available and we have included some of our previous years’ work to help you gain a positive experience with our products.
