Roundup Ready® Hybrids
A renewed commitment and approach to the canola market was evident in 2010, with the launch of the top tier Genuity Roundup Ready variety, 6040 RR. We have built on this success and brought 6060 RR to the market, an exciting new variety great yield potential.
6060 RR
In Co-op trials, 6060 RR has been a consistent high yielding variety with impressive yields versus the checks in 2008 and 2009. In trials to date, 6060 RR has shown to produce a heavily-podded impressive crop with excellent standability and oil content. It is a longer maturing variety. We expect 6060 RR to be among the RR segment performance leaders.
6040 RR
6040 RR is among the performance leaders in the Roundup Ready segment. It was first commercially available in 2010. Average response in 2007 and 2008 Co-op trials was 121% of check in all zones. In 2009 it proved to be competitive with 7145 RR in our comparison trials and among RR performance leaders in the 2009 PCVT. 6040 RR produces a well-podded plant with excellent standability, making it easy to swath and it produces a very black seed.
6020 RR
6020 RR was first commercially available in 2010. It has yield potential similar to 6040 RR but with higher oil content. In Co-op Variety Registration Trials it yielded 119% of the checks. In the 2009 Prairie Canola Variety Trials (PCVT) coordinated by the Canadian Canola Council its yield performance was similar to 7145 across all zones, but in the long season zone 6020 yielded 103% of the checks compared to 7145's 98% of the checks.
6130 RR
First available commercially in 2009, 6130 RR is a composite hybrid that offers strong performance for the price. In our 2009 variety comparison trials it performed well against the check 7145 RR (94%) and 6040 RR (93%). Its early maturity makes it suitable to grow in all zones.
4000 RR Series
Our 4000 series of Roundup Ready hybrids will be value-priced in 2011 to offer traditional open-pollinated growers an attractive option to move up to a hybrid.
